The Tallahassee/Leon County Commission on Women and Girls hosted a poverty simulation facilitated by a team from the United Way of the Big Bend. Community Action was there to offer some context to those participating. Poverty is not a lack of resources, but a lack of options. Events like these illustrate the constant stress of living under the tyranny of the moment. At no point do those participating get a chance to reflect on what they want for their future. It is too often just simply a matter of survival.
